joescode test hub
Temporary staging area for testing the canoe launch-points feature before it's changed
at the real site root. Not linked from the real site nav — this page and everything
under joescode/ is just for verifying changes before/after they go through
a normal PR.
What changed this round
The three seed entries in launch-points.geojson had placeholder
coordinates that didn't match their real-world locations:
- Stewart Park was landing in the middle of Cayuga Lake — moved to its real shore location.
- "Myers Point Park" was misnamed and mislocated — corrected to Myers Park (Town of Lansing) at its real shoreline location.
- Yaman Park was placed near Ithaca on the Cayuga Inlet — the real Yaman Park is a boat launch in Cortland, NY on the Tioughnioga River; description, access type, and nearest USGS gauge corrected to match.
- The sample GPS route (for testing the "Routes" layer) moved from the old Yaman Park spot to the corrected Myers Park location.
Checklist
- Open the map. If the "Launch Points"/"Routes" toggle buttons aren't visible, the layers should still be there by default -- click a green marker anyway.
- Click each of the 3 launch points (near Ithaca, near Lansing on Cayuga Lake, and near Cortland) and confirm the marker sits on real land/shoreline, not in open water.
- Open Myers Park's popup, click "Show route," and confirm a sample route line renders near the correct shoreline.
- On Add a location: log in, use "Use my location" or tap the map to place a pin, fill in the form, and save.
- On Review submissions: log in as the owner, confirm the test submission shows up pending, approve it, then use "Export approved as GeoJSON" and sanity-check the output shape.
